Poem 05

After the Rain

A city rinsed, and briefly new.

The street is new, the leaves are glass.

A bus sighs by, then silver hush.

Puddles keep the passing sky

as if the world had time enough.

You smell the iron, soil, and green.

A sparrow shakes a little crown.

Whatever weather you have been

is rinsing off, and walking down.
